First things first...

The first thing we do when making a mattress at E. J. Schrader is to listen to you! Everyone sleeps differently, so the most important first step in creating your sleep system is to determine your individual sleeping style. At E.J. Schrader we work with you to determine how soft or firm your bedding needs to be. We determine what special needs, such as allergies, you may have. We discuss size and function of your bedding as well as aesthetics of fabrics and any custom upholstery you may require.

How soft or how firm you like your mattress to be is called 'density'. The following are density explanations and hints from customers that help us determine the ultimate density for your individual needs. Combinations of foam or cotton, whether you need an innerspring or foam core mattress, pillow top or an adjustable electric bed, are all determined by what you tell us about how you sleep!

Ortho Firm Density
• Hardest mattress manufactured
• Customer either knows he wants this firmness or describes   sleeping habits as liking to sleep on the floor

Lux-Firm Density (10% softer than Ortho Firm)
• Has some resiliency but mostly surface sleeping
• Customer will talk about using a board under present mattress
• Customer talks about needing to sleep straight or flat
• Customer wants two steps firmer than X-Firm sample

X-Firm Density (15% softer than Ortho Firm)
• Has some resiliency but mostly surface sleeping
• Customer will talk about liking Hotel Bedding

Firm Density (Most normal density chosen)
• Designed for most customers sleeping preferences
• Comfortable but supportive

Medium Firm (10% softer than Firm Density)
• Customer likes to "sink into" mattress rather than sleep "on" it
• Customer talks about problem with arms falling asleep
• Customer wants next step softer than Firm Density

Medium Density (Into the softer range)
• Customer talks about wanting an overall soft feel
• Softest density manufactured without compromising quality

Medium-Soft Density
• Customer wants to sink almost "through" mattress
• Box Spring is also made to match this density

Soft Density
• Customer says he cannot find anything soft enough
• Can be pillow top or can be cotton fabric button tufted

Hand Made Quality

Each Mattress at E. J. Schrader is hand sewn by real people who work to the specifications of your particular order. Because we manufacture what we sell, each and every mattress and box spring is designed, created, and inspected by us. We simply won't deliver anything to you that isn't absolutely perfect.

For custom upholstery we have highly trained staff who hand sew, fit and upholster your unique style beds such as day beds, special size box springs or head boards. We can work with your fabric or our own. Every consideration is taken to produce exactly what you were looking for!

Many of our staff have worked with us for years and contribute enormously to both our success and your satisfaction of our product. There is no substitute for years of experience and expertise.

Foams and Cotton

Bedding is layered with different combinations of either foam and/or cotton surrounding an innerspring or foam core. At E. J. Schrader we use only the highest quality materials: hypo allergenic organically grown cottons, memory foam, high density foams, and latex foams. Depending on the style and density of the sleep set you choose, we combine the materials to make it perfect.  

Innersprings offer resilience, support and longevity to your mattress. At E.J. Schrader, we can create two-sided innerspring units giving both you and your partner the comfort level you need for the best possible sleep.
